GREEK ORTHODOX EASTER

I would like you to know how we Greeks Orthodox celebrate our EASTER.....
It is our traddition for families to get together the days of the HOLY WEEK (most people return to their
home towns to stay for EASTER vacations).Since people are working hard averyday and there is not time for getting together with family ,they need to be with family members during their vacation on Christmas and Easter days. These are our most important days of our religion. So we attend the Devine Liturgy all days of the Holly Week, and we ae most anxious for the big night of the Resurrection of Christ. In our traddition ,after coming back from the Churtch, our dinner contains as first dish, soup made of pieces of lamb liver and guts boiled together with plenty of fresh onions, parsley and dill, then beaten eggs with lemon juice mixed in the soup, plenty of green salad we bump one another`s red egg saying Christ Has Risen,Trully Has Risen.
The first day of Easter early in the morning a big lamb pierced with a metal stick through head and boddy,is cooked over charcoal heat,at lest 6-7 hours until ready....during this procedure we drink and dance in trditional music, eat our prepared pitas and other delicatessen dishes...
In the pictures below,I show how I dyed my eggs the ecological way.....

here you can see red and yellow colors....made out of juice of boiled beets and water mae og crocus and curry powder, the green ones dipped in juice of boiled spinach and other greens together, the blue ones dipped in water of dried leaves of ibiscus...and here they are ,healthy and beautiful!!!!

this is also a nice picture of Glysinus ,with it`s very aromatic blue bunches hanging in my kiosk....

here you can see our lamd on the platter, delicious and ready to eat .....

this platter of kokorètsi,I am sorry I can`t explain this in english.....
