Perfect Brown Rice

2 cups of Water

1 ¼ Cups of Brown Rice (preferably long grain)

¼ to ½ Teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

¼ teaspoon onion powder (optional)

1. Combine water, salt and seasoning in pot and bring to a boil (leave uncovered)

2. When water comes to a rolling boil, stir in rice.

3. Cover and reduce to low heat.

4. Cook in a tightly covered pot for approximately 35 minutes.

5. When all water has boiled from pot, remove rice from pot to discontinue cooking.

Brown rice should be fluffy and separate easily.

That is the same way I make my brown rice as well, I eat brown rice for the reasons you specified. I liked the idea of putting the garlic powder in the water, I will have to try that next time. Sometimes I make the rice then I stir fry it adding onions and herbs and sometiems i make it mex style adding the tomato sauce and such. I hope more people take up brown rice since it is better than white rice. Good job.
