Your Active Cooks - Online Video Cooking Community Box

Thanks Tommy for wellcomming me in your company and this interesting community of active cooks.
I would like you and all our friends to know about a kind of pie that we greek people make for the New Year,it is called VASILOPITA,lets say Santa`s pie,its medium sweet pie, with a coin hidden inside,we cut it in as many pieces as the people that are
to have a piece, the coin might be of silver or gold, depending on
what we wish the winner to get,it also might be a simple coin.
Now I will write the recipe and show a picture ,I have just made one for new year`s eve....
1 cup of butter,
1 cup of sugar
2 eggyolks
2tbls.of fresh orange juice
2 tbls. of congiac
500 gr.of flour
1/2 tsp.cinnamon powder
1/4 tsp. of clove powder
1 tbls.of orange rind
1/2 tsp.salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 eggyolk diluted with some water for coating
whole cloves for garnish
Beat with a mixer the butter with the sugar until flaffy, while beating you add one by one the eggyolks and pour litlle by little the juice and the congiac, stir in half of the flour with salt, soda,
cinnamon and clove and knead adding as much of the rest of flour as it needs to have a medium soft dough or it does not stick in the fingers(it almost takes all the flour)
Keep apart a small piece of the dough for writting on top, the year number, and put the rest on a buttered baking sheet making
a circle of 10 intches and then put it in a same diameter
cooking pan.,then coat the pie with the diluted eggyolk and make with the small part of dough the year number and paste it on top,
coat it too with the egg and put around the edge whole cloves, and in between, bake in preheated oven at 375 degreesF
for 35 to 40 minutes or until looks dark gold. I forgot to tell you that before you put the pan in the oven, you insert underneath
the coin.Good luck and good eating right after the clock turns to the new year.WISHES TO ALL OUR FRIENDS FOR A LUCKY
AND HEALTHY 2008,Katie

VERY HAPPY TO BE IN THIS COMMUNITY OF HAPPY COOKERS

I an real happy to have found a place where I can express my cooking fantasies, I am cooking for as long I am married, that is 40 years, but I started to create my own recipes since I became a vegetarian and started to read books for eating healthy, books on how to mix the foods and what foods our stomach absorbs first than others ,so we don`t create toxines in our system that becomes fat,I have learnt to eat when hungry, and since we built our house in thecountry,I grow my own vegetables, and
